Conversion of 105,000 SF Belk’s store to a 65,000 SF, 2,200 seat, ten screen cinema. Removal of approximately 40,000 SF of second floor and ten interior (foundation to roof) columns.  The existing roof was supported by the addition of ten, 60’ long, 8,500 lb. girders, hoisted and jacked into place from the lower floor.  New plumbing, mechanical, fire sprinkler and electrical systems installed.  Stadium style seating platforms, 48” in width, were constructed in each auditorium with structural stud framing, metal floor form and pumped-in-place black concrete. Private meeting and party rooms and a pub on the upper level lobby provided additional amenities.  Acoustical excellence was a primary concern for this owner.
